sabbath
Many Churches do not deny that Sunday was once a day of rest according to the Law of Moses and was called the Sabbath. Undeniably however, Sabbath does mean rest. If one was to study the New Testament it would prove that the disciples and apostles met, worshiped, collected offerings and broke bread on the first day of every week . Churches all over the world, thousands of denominations, meets on Sunday.
Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight.
1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.
John 20:19 So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you."
1 Corinthians 16:2 On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.
Mark 2:27-28 27 And he said unto them, the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Matthew 11:28-30 28"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Romans 2:25-29 25 Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised. 26 So then, if those who are not circumcised keep the law's requirements, will they not be regarded as though they were circumcised? 27 The one who is not circumcised physically and yet obeys the law will condemn you who, even though you have the written code and circumcision, are a lawbreaker. 28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person's praise is not from other people, but from God.
Sabbath keepers do not want to admit that they base much of their argument upon the fact that they are still living under the Mosaic Law. Most of us will grant that without any objection.
However, the message delivered by Moses was that God did all of the work for the benefit of mankind. Therefore, rather than "work as worship" the Israelites were commanded to keep the Sabbath so holy in rest that they could not participate in any of the religious-commercial worship of the time.
"The gospel commands no duty which can be performed without faith in the Son of God. 'Whatever is not of faith is sin.'
To do so and then "keep Sunday as the Sabbath" as a day of worship rather than a day of rest would subject people--still under the Law of Moses--to death.
Worship, defined by Paul, was to assemble together in fellowship to pray, read and dialog the Word of God, and break bread. That is very similar to what the Jews did on the Sabbath, but without all of the other restrictions and formality from the Old Testament.
