THE sINNER'S pRAYER
I could go into a long drawn-out explanation of this but let us just make it as short and sweet as possible.
After you read this brief statement, there are a few of videos toward the bottom.
Have you or someone you know ever asked what you first need to do to be accepted by God and get into heaven when you die? Was the "Sinner's Prayer" the answer? Not really... unless... and I will expand on that.
Saying a prayer to God is similar to talking to anyone. If you have ever lied, stolen anything, cheated, gossiped, used foul language, used God's name inappropriately, attacked anyone in anger, gotten drunk or stoned, and afterward regretted it, did you apologize? Were you sincere at the time, promising to never do it again, but did? Again and again? Then you turn around and throughout the course of one day, commit not just one of those actions but several of them, and never own up to any of them, to anyone, ever.
If so, you are human, and humans sin. In this scenario the first sin was the original inappropriate action that you took. (we only touched on the most common sins, there The second sin was to the person you impacted. The third sin was against God and the fact that you broke His commands. The fourth sin was being a repeat offender. The fifth sin was having a hardened heart.
God tells us to forgive 7 x 70 if asked because he forgives an unlimited time... to those that are truly sincere.
So... whether or not it is done in formatted prayer, it means absolutely nothing if you are not sincere, ask God's forgiveness and forgive every single person that has hurt or offended you that you still hold such actions accountable because until you forgive them God can't and won't forgive you, turn away for the sinning, cling to His word daily, tell others that He is the God, Master, and Father of your life, desire of Him to change your heart and mind in all matters, share out of you abundance with others in neat for food, clothing, finances, medicine, or any genuine needs they may have, study the word of God daily, stop associating with those that would lead you into sin, bond with true believers, come out from your old ways and begin to walk on a narrower path. study what it means to be baptized and do it.
If this sounds like too much to do for the one that can save you for all eternity and ease your burdens while suffering through this life... please ask us for prayer. If you are ready to start your new life then we also ask you to contact us so we can keep you in prayer as your new life begins.
Either way, study what the bible has to say about the words: save, saved, and saving as related to salvation. There is more than just muttering a prayer, calling out His name, or simply believing. You have walk the walk and talk the talk or when you leave this life you will hear, as stated in Matthew 7:23, Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
So why do most people say: “I was saved when I said the Sinner’s Prayer and asked Jesus to come into my heart.”
The answer... because unfortunately they were misinformed in the beginning. If that was you or a loved one, or you have never given God a chance to rule in your life and help you down that narrow pilgrims' path, please pay close attention to the rest of this message.
I beg you to do as I did. I have searched the scriptures thoroughly, and I have not found anywhere the words “Sinner’s Prayer” is mentioned – in zero translations! Nowhere does the bible tell us to ask Jesus into our hearts!
That was ploy by preachers a hundred years ago that wanted notoriety by coning the crowds into believing their words and not the words of the bible, because most people did not have a bible or else, as most people today, they relied on the man in the front of the room to tell the truth, be it preacher, politician or used horse / car sales men.
'No where' are we told to ask Jesus into our hearts. I have also performed a word search on “heart.” The Greek word “kardia” is translated heart. It appears 178 times in the NKJV version of the New Testament. Never is it used to instruct us to ask Jesus to come into a person’s heart. So why in the world would anyone believe that this would work? Why indeed? Because they have not done their own research! They have not read the Bible. Saying a prayer and not following up with the rest of the actions on only gives you a false feeling of security. They are hoping the 'feelings' of just asking would be enough to wash away all their sins and get them a free pass into heaven.
If you were hired to do a job and only showed up on the first day of work why would any employer pay you for the rest of your life? Why would anyone expect different from God? His sheep, His children, know His voice and obey.
How many have heard parents say "It is my house, my rules, obey or hit the road'? Both our heavenly and earthly fathers are alike in that manner.
Some say the origin of the Sinner’s Prayer goes back to Protestant Reformation of the early 18th century. Some say its roots are in the Eastern Orthodox traditions. Some say it is a combination of a prayer of repentance and conversion designed to show remorse and a heart-felt desire to follow Christ. Regardless of the origin or the intent, the Sinner’s Prayer is not from God. God has given us His plan for salvation in the scriptures (2 Tim 3:16-17). He has warned us of following the teachings and traditions of men (Acts 2:38 & 42, Mt 15:9; 2 Tim 4:3-4).
We are not to rely on own own understanding (Prov 3:5) or any human being (Gal 1:8).

As Peter plainly said in Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than man.” A person may be sincere in their prayer, but unless obedience to the scripture is followed, that person’s prayers won't make it past the ceiling because their worship is in vain (Mark 7:7). Following God's plan of salvation requires more than to mumble a few words and perform some outward signs of obedience if you do not believe in Christ, the sacrifice He made for you, and are willing to follow Him in every area of your life. We know this a tall order... so does God. Are you honestly and sincerely willing to do it?
Have you or someone you love obeyed man rather than God. Are you or someone you love obeying a “fable” as in 2 Tim 4:4 or Titus 1:14? Have you put on the righteousness of Christ through the submission of fully immersed baptism, and died to self and the influences of Lucifer to arise a new child of Christs'?
Without being clothed in the righteousness of Christ (through being fully immersed in baptism) you will regret it throughout eternity.
If you desire to follow Jesus make your salvation sure by following God’s plan. Go back and read every bible verse that is given here... then if you decide that we have told you the truth and you are convicted to follow God's Word... Go... and be a doer of the word and not a hearer only. (James 1:22, 2 Cor 6:2, Acts 22:16, John 14:15, Romans 6:4 & 5, 23, Col 2:11,12)
This is just the beginning of your true walk with God. The path is narrow but the rewards are pressed down shaken together and running over (Luke 6:38) if you will trust and obey (Prov 3:1-10).
If you wish to talk about your salvation, give us a call: 775-677-4109. As this number is often not manned, please leave a message with your name and phone with the best time for us to call you back.
